Limelight Hydrangea

Limelight Hydrangea is New on the Scene

The Limelight Hydrangea is fairly new on the scene, but it has become quite popular already. It is easy to see why the plant, which originated in Holland, is so sought after. One look at the green blooms and you will know.  It also helps that the Limelight Hydrangea continues to bloom well into the autumn when the blooms change from green to pink.
Limelight Hydrangeas are perfect for arrangements and bouquets. They look equally breathtaking whether fresh or dried flowers are used.

After ordering this plant online or buying from you local nursery, you will want to plant in a spot where the plant will get at least partial sun. If you happen to live in a colder climate, the Limelight Hydrangea will likely do just fine in full sunlight. In warmer climates, however, partial shade is preferred.
A Limelight Hydrangea will grow to a height of between six and ten feet and a width of about six feet. In ideal conditions, it will grow about one foot a year until it reaches full maturity.

Below are some tips to keep in mind when planting this colorful plant.

Soil

While the plant can survive with substandard soil, to get the most growth and the biggest blooms, you should consider mixing some compost in with the soil. When you use a soil that is of a higher quality, you promote better health which, in turn, promotes grown and better blooms.

You should also take care to ensure that the soil around the roots is loose enough to allow for easy growth.

Sun

As mentioned above, Limelight Hydrangea do not require full sunlight. That having been said, it is also worthy of note that this particular type of Hydrangea can indeed tolerate full sun more than some other varieties.

That means that if your only option is planting in full sun, your Limelight Hydrangea may do fine, even in warmer climates.

Moisture

With this and most other Hydrangea, consistency is key when it comes to watering. The plant should be kept moist always. If, however, there are times when the plant goes dry from time to time, it is not likely to kill the plant.

If you can manage to keep it moist, you will realize more abundant blooms that are larger in size.

Food

While many successfully grow this plant without adding any food, you will have greater success if you do choose to add a high quality food to the soil. This can result in larger blooms and a bigger, more hardy plant overall.

The Limelight Hydrangea is sure to be making appearances in bridal bouquets and wedding décor as well as in the décor of homes throughout the country.

For use even when the bloom in not in season, simply cut the flowers when they are at their best and properly dry them. You will then be able to include the dried flowers in all types of applications throughout the year.
